Dr. Anthony Melonakos to retire at the end of 2023

A Michigan orthopedic surgeon has announced his plans to retire at the end of the year, The Monroe News reported Dec. 21.

Anthony Melonakos, MD, is a surgeon with ProMedica Physicians Orthopaedic Surgery in Monroe, Mich., and has treated patients with ProMedica Physicians Group for eight years. He first started practicing in Monroe in 1982.

During his career and decadeslong tenure in the city, Dr. Melonakos performed more than 12,000 procedures. He first started in Monroe at Mercy Memorial Hospital, which became ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital in 2015.

In his retirement, Dr. Melonakos plans to spend more time with friends and family, the report said.
