Dr. Neal ElAttrache to operate on Cleveland Browns quarterback

Orthopedic

Neal ElAttrache, MD, is set to perform shoulder surgery on Deshaun Watson, a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, according to a Nov. 16 report by Sports Illustrated.

Mr. Watson suffered a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right shoulder during a Nov. 12 game. He reported discomfort in his shoulder to the Brown's medical staff but finished the game, according to a Nov. 15 news release from the team.

Following a consultation with Dr. ElAttrache and James Voos, MD, the head team physician for the Browns, it was determined that to avoid further structural damage, immediate surgery was necessary.

The team is hopeful that Mr. Watson, who will miss the rest of the 2023 NFL season, will be fully recovered in time for the start of the 2024 season.

Dr. ElAttrache is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Rams, another NFL team, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, the city's MLB franchise. He also serves as an orthopedic consultant to two NHL teams — the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks — as well as the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers.
