Through the partnership, Mayo Clinic Health System will provide sideline care coverage for the university’s football and hockey games, as well as offer nearly 450 hours of physician time for other sports and events, according to an Oct. 25 news release from the school.
The contract will become effective Dec. 1, 2023 and will last for five years and seven months. The value of the partnership is $4.14 million, with $2.59 million through cash payments and net sponsorship investments and $1.55 million in orthopedic physician coverage.
In addition, Mayo Clinic Health System will become the official provider of orthopedics and sports medicine for the university’s athletic programs.
Mayo Clinic Health System has 53 clinics and 16 hospitals to provide care to residents of Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin, the release said.
