Keith Meister, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Brandon Woodruff, a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, in Dallas on Oct. 13.
The surgery was to repair the anterior capsule in Mr. Woodruff's right shoulder, according to an Oct. 13 news release from mlb.com.
He is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2024 MLB season, according to the team.
Dr. Meister performed a similar procedure last week on Kyle Wright, a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Wright is expected to miss all of next season, the Braves said.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.
