Green Bay Packers player to undergo 5th knee surgery in 3 years

Orthopedic

Brian Cole, MD, is set to operate on the left knee of David Bakhtiari, a player for the Green Bay Packers, according to an Oct. 6 report by espn.com

The procedure will be the fifth on Mr. Bakhtiari's left knee since he tore his anterior cruciate ligament on Dec. 31, 2020. The upcoming surgery is to repair the lateral femoral condyle cartilage tear that he suffered during the ACL tear.

Pat McKenzie, MD, who is the Packers' team physician and who performed Mr. Bakhtiari's previous surgeries, and Neal ElAttrache, MD, who is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Rams, were consulted.

Mr. Bakhtiari will miss the rest of the NFL season and hopes to be able to return during training camp next summer, the report said.

Dr. Cole serves as team physician for the NBA's Chicago Bulls and co-team physician for the Chicago White Sox, one of the city's two MLB franchises.
