Commons Clinic raises $19.5M for new orthopedic, spine care model

Orthopedic

Value-based care system Commons Clinic, which focuses on spine, orthopedic and pain management care, has raised $19.5 million in series A funding, bringing its total funding to $33.5 million.

Commons Clinic aims to usher in a new value-based care model for spine and orthopedics, moving procedures out of the hospital-centric model, according to an Oct. 9 press release.

By 2028, 85 percent of total joint replacement cases will be in the outpatient setting, according to the release. Procedures at ASCs often offer cheaper, more efficient alternatives for patients.

Commons takes a new approach to the core components of orthopedic care delivery, giving consumers all-inclusive care programs for total joint replacements, spinal fusions and more.

Its bundled payments benefit health plans, employers and patients.

"With Commons Clinic, I believe there is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to foundationally change how specialty care is delivered, enabling us to win long-term consumer relationships, earn the power of top physicians' loyalty, and capture the power of a rebuilt specialty care value chain," Nick Aubin, co-founder and CEO of Commons Clinic, said in the release.
