Dr. Matthew Tao first in Nebraska to use BEAR implant

Matthew Tao, MD, of University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, is the first surgeon in the state to use the BEAR implant for ACL surgery, NBC affiliate WOWT reported Sept. 21.

The BEAR implant uses a tissue graft from a donor or a patient and lets a torn ACL heal itself. The procedure can provide a quicker healing process. 

So far in 2023, seven other places have added the BEAR implant.
