Dr. Joseph Zuckerman earns lifetime achievement award

Orthopedic surgeon Joseph Zuckerman, MD, earned the Orthopaedic Summit: Evolving Techniques Lifetime Achievement Award, according to a Sept. 20 news release. 

Dr. Zuckerman's career spans nearly 40 years, and he specializes in shoulder arthroplasty and hip and knee reconstruction. He is a professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York City and holds leadership positions at NYU Langone Health and NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital.

He was president of the American Shoulder Elbow Society from 2003 to 2004 and president  of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons from 2009 to 2010. He trained more than 400 residents and fellows, and he has more than 600 journal articles and book chapters.

"Joe is an internationally acclaimed giant in the field of orthopaedics," Kevin Plancher, MD, founder of the OSET, said in the release. "He has mentored so many of us and made countless meaningful and revolutionary contributions in educating surgeons around the globe, changing too numerous to count patients' lives. I couldn't be more honored to have Dr. Zuckerman come to the stage in Boston today at the Orthopaedic Summit."
