2 orthopedic practices hit with data breaches

As of April, 198 healthcare data breaches of 500 or more records have been reported to the HHS' Office for Civil Rights in 2023, according to The HIPAA Journal.

Here are two data breaches that Becker's has reported on since May 24:

1. Knoxville-based Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics discovered a security incident that disrupted some system operations. The unauthorized party accessed files between March 20 and March 24, according to a post on the company's website.

2. Atlanta-based Peachtree Orthopedics determined that an unauthorized third-party gained access to its computer systems and network on April 20, according to a notice posted on the practice's website. The practice notified law enforcement and began an investigation to determine what information was breached, according to the notice.
