Indiana government earmarks $30M for orthopedic workforce retention

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed Indiana’s newest two-year budget, which includes $536 million earmarked for local projects, into law May 4. About $30 million of that funding will go toward orthopedic workforce development and retention, according to a May 8 report from the Indiana Capital Chronicle.

Warsaw, Ind., and its surrounding area have the highest concentration of orthopedic design and manufacturing facilities worldwide. 

The state represents half of the global orthopedic market for total joint replacements, according to the report. 

The $30 million will be given directly to OrthoWorx, a local nonprofit dedicated to advancing the industry. The funds will go into workforce retention,  talent attraction and more.
