Dr. Jeffrey Dugas performs nerve transportation revision on Red Sox pitcher

Jeffrey Dugas, MD, performed an ulnar nerve transportation revision in the right elbow of Boston Red Sox pitcher Zack Kelly, according to a May 3 New England Sports Network report.

Mr. Kelly injured his elbow during a game April 12 and has not pitched since. He underwent the procedure May 2 at the Andrews Institute in Birmingham, Ala.

Dr. Dugas is a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at the Andrews Institute and treats shoulder, elbow and knee sports injuries. He also serves on the board of the American Baseball Foundation and the American Sports Medicine Institute. 

There is no timetable for Mr. Kelly’s return to the field, according to the team
