Mercy, St. Louis Cardinals extend sports medicine partnership through 2032

Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy signed a 10-year sports medicine partnership extension with MLB’s St. Louis Cardinals.

Mercy will provide injury care and prevention to Cardinals’ players and will have a primary care physician and orthopedic specialist at all of the team’s home games throughout the season, according to an April 5 news release from Mercy.

Brian Mahaffey, MD, will serve as Cardinals team physician and coordinator of major league medical services. 

The partnership started in 2013 between the two organizations and will run through 2032 with the extension, the release said.

The health system will gain exclusive advertising rights at the team’s stadium among medical service providers beginning in 2024 as part of the partnership.
