7 states without an orthopedic residency program

There are seven states in the U.S. without an accredited orthopedic residency program, according to 2023 data from the National Resident Matching Program. 

Over half of residents (55.5 percent) who completed training from 2010 to 2019 practiced medicine in the states where they completed their residencies, according to data from the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Alaska 

Delaware

Idaho 

Maine 

Montana 

South Dakota 

Wyoming
