The Springdale (Ark.) Planning Commission has approved development plans for the Northwest Arkansas Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine of Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, according to an April 5 report from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette

The 115,000-square-foot facility will sit between Arkansas Children's Northwest and the Blue Cross Blue Shield building in Springdale.

UAMS hopes to have the orthopedic center open in 2025, according to the report. The facility will be an outpatient clinic with clinical space and a surgery center.

The University of Arkansas board of trustees in 2021 approved a $109.6 million bond to cover costs of the center.
