Steadman Clinic’s Dr. Armando Vidal named AAOS chair of specialty societies

Armando Vidal, MD, was named chair of the board of specialty societies for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

He will assume the position next week. Previously, Dr. Vidal served as secretary and chair-elect of the board of specialty societies. He also served on AAOS’ sports medicine program committee. 

Dr. Vidal is an attending surgeon at Vail, Colo.-based Steadman Clinic and a former head team physician for the National Basketball Association’s Denver Nuggets, according to a March 9 press release. 

He specializes in knee reconstruction, shoulder surgery and sports medicine. He has authored more than 180 journal articles and book chapters on improving orthopedic care. 

The board of specialty societies facilitates communication between musculoskeletal specialty societies and the AAOS.
