James Voos, MD, chairman of the orthopedics department at University Hospitals Cleveland (Ohio) Medical Center and head team physician for the Cleveland Browns NFL team, has been awarded the annual NFL Physicians Society Arthur C. Rettig Award for Academic Excellence.
The yearly award is given to an NFL team physician for academic excellence in research in advancing health and safety for NFL players.
Dr. Voos was given the honor at the NFL Physician Society's 2023 scientific meeting, where he also presented his research project, "Return to Play Assessment After ACL Reconstruction Using Wearable Technology."
Performing high volumes of ACL reconstructions and shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, Dr. Voos specializes in treating patients with sports-related knee, shoulder and elbow injuries.
He is also vice president of the NFL Physicians Society, and will take over as president next year, according to a March 8 press release.
