The average price of a knee replacement in New York City, the largest city in the U.S., is $33,715, according to Healthcare Bluebook, a price transparency tool.

Healthcare Bluebook's average cost of knee replacement includes facility, physician and anesthesia fees and is calculated based on the amount health plans have paid on medical claims.

5. Phoenix: $24,756

6. Philadelphia: $31,666
