CurvaFix launches smaller version of pelvic fixation device

Orthopedic

CurvaFix launched a smaller 7.5mm version of its IM Implant, the devicemaker said Feb. 16.

The new implany is designed for stable fixation in small-boned patients, according to a news release. The original version of the implant was released in 2021 and has a 9.5mm diameter.

"The new 7.5mm device is designed to simplify surgery and provide strong, stable, curved fixation in smaller patients," Steve Dimmer, CurvaFix CEO, said in the release. "Additionally, our novel device has been shown to offer many geriatric patients immediate pain relief and early mobility, which is critically important in older patients where mobility is such a key to life."

More than 175 patients have been treated with the CurvaFix procedure, which is used in pelvic fracture surgery.
