X-Twist is a platform of suture anchors designed for a variety of orthopedic procedures, including foot and ankle cases, according to a company news release. The system received FDA clearance in May and is expected to help surgeons performing high-volume procedures.
“The instrumentation is easy to use and intuitive, and fixation is robust,” Dr. Baker, who practices at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, said in the release. “This is an anchor that can be used both knotless and as a knotted traditional anchor offering a wide spectrum of options for suture preference, including tape. In my rotator cuff repairs, this will supplement my medial row anchor in poor bone quality and will become my primary lateral row anchor. The X-Twist can easily be used for nearly any soft tissue repair within the shoulder and throughout the body.”
X-Twist is available in a limited market release, and Anika said it plans to roll out more products in the near future.
