The American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons Political Action Committee uses collected funds to lobby for the interests of orthopedic surgeons and practices through supporting candidates, ballot measures and other political interests. 

According to data compiled by money-in-politics tracker Open Secrets, the PAC raised over $1.7 million in the 2021-2022 election cycle. 

Seven fast facts on the orthopedic surgeons PAC in 2021 and 2022: 

1. The PAC raised a total of $1,715,854. 

2. The PAC spent $1,661,768. 

3. The PAC donated a total of $729,000 to federal candidates. 

4. Of the contributions, 49.9 percent, or $364,000, went to Democrats; the other 50.07 percent, or $365,000, went to Republicans. 

5. The PAC gave its highest House candidate donation amount, $10,000, to each Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa), Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), Greg Murphy (R-N.C.) and Kim Schrier (D-Wash.). 

6. The PAC gave its highest Senate candidate donation amount, $9,000, to both Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.). 

7. The PAC received 2,320 large-scale ($200+) contributions.
