2 orthopedic facilities affected in Shields Health Care Group data breach

Quincy, Mass.-based Shields Health Care Group experienced a data breach that affected several of its facilities, including two orthopedic centers, law firm Console and Associates wrote on JD Supra on July 25.

The company shared data breach notices July 22. An investigation found an unauthorized party gained access to Shields Health Care Group’s computer system March 7.

Shields provides management and imaging services to multiple facilities and said the breach likely accessed information to affiliated patients, according to the report. More than 50 facilities were listed.

The orthopedic facilities affected are:

1. Newton (Mass.) Wellesley Orthopedic Associates and its business associate NW Imaging Management Co.

2. Portsmouth, N.H.-based Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and its business associate Shields and Sports Medicine Atlantic Imaging Management
