Dr. Miller is a professor of orthopedic surgery and division head of sports medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, according to a July 18 news release. He succeeds Kurt Spindler, MD. Before being named president, Dr. Miller was vice president and president-elect of the AOSSM.
He earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. and completed his residency at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Miller wrote more than 200 articles and 40 textbooks. He’s been in multiple leadership positions for AOSSM and received the AOSSM George Rovere Award for Education, the USUHS Distinguished Service Award, and the Virginia Orthopaedic Society Lifetime Achievement Award.
