New York hospital appoints Dr. Joel Buchalter joint replacement director

Joel Buchalter, MD, was appointed director of joint replacement surgery at Northern Westchester Hospital’s Orthopedic and Spine Institute in Mount Kisco, N.Y., Patch reported Nov. 5.

Dr. Buchalter spent almost two decades at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, N.Y., where he served as chief of orthopedic surgery and president of the medical staff.

He has been in practice since 1988 and is co-founder of Somers Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Group in Carmel, N.Y.

Northern Westchester Hospital has a Navio and a Mako robot to assist surgeons with hip and knee replacements.

The Orthopedic and Spine Institute applies a multidisciplinary approach to care, comprising specialists in neurosurgery, sports medicine, pain management and radiology, among other specialties.
