Here are five notes:
1. Dr. Metts, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, will see patients on the Penn Highlands Elk campus.
2. A former physician for the U.S. Navy, Dr. Metts worked on the U.S.S. Saipan and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and the Naval Hospital of Newport, R.I.
3. He founded the Crawford County Sports Medicine Program in Meadville, Pa.
4. Before this appointment, Dr. Metts worked with Susquehanna Health in Wellsboro, Pa.
5. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Dr. Metts completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va.
