Leslie Vidal, MD, will join her husband Armando Vidal, MD, and the surgical team at The Steadman Clinic on Aug 1. Dr. Leslie Vidal is the first female orthopedic surgeon to practice with The Steadman Clinic and practiced with Denver-based Orthopedic Associates for the last 13 years. 

Jeffrey Holmes, MD, performed an ankle replacement surgery with a 3D printed titanium implant at Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, Ariz. Dr. Holmes specializes in advanced foot and ankle reconstruction and total ankle replacements among other procedures.

Chad Kurtenbach, MD, of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health is testing if stem cells can be used to treat osteoarthritis in the knee. Stem cells from adipose, bone marrow and umbilical tissue will be compared in the study.

President and Co-founder of Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based OrthoNations Kenneth Montgomery, MD, successfully performed an elbow arthroscopy procedure on his fifth medical mission in Vietnam.  He is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon practicing at Hanover, N.J.-based Tri-County Orthopedics.

Jeffrey Augustin, MD, was appointed director of orthopedic surgery and the joint replacement program at Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center. He has maintained a private practice at Augustin Orthopedics in Bayonne, N.J., since 2006 but has been associated with BMC for several years.

Orthopedic surgeon Stephen Fealy, MD, of Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City spoke to Becker's about the value of an interoperable referral system for physicians and shared his insight on the biggest barriers and trends in orthopedics.

Thomas DiLiberti, MD, repaired the broken hamate bone in the right hand of Texas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo on July 25. Dr. DiLiberti is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand injuries at Dallas-based Texas Hand Center.

Intuitive added Stanford (Calif.) University Medical Center's Amy Ladd, MD, to its board, effective Aug. 1. Dr. Ladd has spent nearly three decades as an orthopedic surgeon at Stanford and is an accomplished researcher, holding 10 patents and trademarks for innovation.

Jeffrey McConnell, MD, of Allentown, Pa., successfully implanted Camber Spine's Spira-O Open Matrix OLIF in a patient. Camber's surgeon design team is still evaluating the device. The company expects to launch the device across the U.S. in late September.

Gregory C. Mallo, MD, is leaving his position as chief of St. Charles Hospital's shoulder service to join Northwell Health affiliate Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group. Dr. Mallo will join Merrick, N.Y.-based Orlin & Cohen on Aug. 1 and begin performing surgery out of Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, N.Y.

Orthopedic surgeon James Scott, MD, joined the board of directors at Tifton, Ga.-based Tift Regional Health System. Dr. Scott practices at Georgia Sports Medicine in Tifton. He is past-president of the Georgia Society of Ambulatory Surgery Centers and remains active on the organization's board.
