82% of total knee replacements last 25+ years, study finds

Approximately 82 percent of total knee replacements last more than 25 years, according to a systematic review in The Lancet.

The authors searched Medline and Embase for for case series and cohort studies published from database inception until July 21, 2018.

The authors identified 33 case series in 30 eligible articles, which reported all-cause survival for 6,490 total knee replacements (26 case series) and 742 unicondylar knee replacements (seven case series).

Approximately 70 percent of UKRs last 25 years, the authors found.
