Charles F. Preston, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Muir Orthopaedic Specialists in Walnut Creek, Calif.
Dr. Preston is also affiliated with Walnut Creek-based Sequoia Surgical Pavilion and San Ramon (Calif.) Regional Medical Center, where he serves as founding medical director of the hospital's sports performance institute.
With expertise in sports medicine and knee, shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, Dr. Preston's specialties also include anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, rotator cuff repair and Tommy John surgery.
Dr. Preston is a team physician for Moraga, Calif.-based St. Mary's College and De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif. He previously served as a house physician at New York City-based Madison Square Garden and Shea Stadium for the New York Mets.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orhopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and California Orthopaedic Association.
After earning his medical degree from UC Irvine, Dr. Preston completed his residency and a musculoskeletal orthopedic research fellowship at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. He then underwent additional fellowship training in sports medicine and elbow and shoulder surgery at University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
