American Joint Replacement Registry names 2018 leadership: 3 key points

The American Joint Replacement Registry announced its executive committee and 2018 Steering Committee representatives. In October 2017, AJRR became part of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' registries portfolio and the AJRR Board of Directors became the AJRR Steering Committee.

Here are three things to know:

1. The two newest members of the 2018 Steering Committee include Paul Voorhorst as an AdvaMed Representative and James Browne, MD, as The Knee Society Representative.

2. The Steering Committee is tasked with governing the AJRR by overseeing operations related to the U.S.-based registry for hip and knee arthroplasty. The AJRR Steering Committee is a multi-stakeholder group and reports to the newly established AAOS Registry Oversight Committee, which is chaired by Daniel Berry, MD.

3. According to the AAOS president William Maloney, MD, over 1,000 institutions contributed over 1 million procedures to the registry under the leadership of William Berry, MD, who served as chair for the last three years.
