Operation Walk Chicago draws volunteers from institutions in the Chicago area, including Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine and Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University Health System. It was founded by Victoria Brander, MD, a surgeon at Northwestern, and David Stulberg, MD, a surgeon at NorthShore.
Since its founding in 2005, Operation Walk Chicago has served patients in seven countries, donating an estimated $500,000 to $1.5 million worth of supplies and services on each trip, the article said.
