4 recent orthopedic donations

Since Oct. 1, Becker’s reported on four orthopedic groups receiving donations to their programs.

1. The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center’s UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance Center has earned a $25 million donation from the Saunders Foundation, led by entrepreneur and philanthropist Philip Saunders.

2. Tim Walbert, former CEO of biopharmaceutical company Horizon Therapeutics, and his wife, Keli Walbert, have donated $8.25 million to Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center’s orthopedics department.

3. Ross and Mary Whipple pledged $250,000 to The Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital at UAMS to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock as part of a larger donation to the hospital.

4. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery received a $7.5 million donation to support the construction of a new orthopedic surgical center in Naples, Fla.
