1. Hoag Orthopedic Institute added a Rosa Knee robot at its surgery center in Mission Viejo, Calif., and a Corin OMNIBiotics system at its ASC in Orange, Calif. Hoag now has four knee replacement robots at its facilities. A fifth robot is expected to be added at Hoag’s upcoming surgery center in Aliso Viejo, Calif.
2. Hoag Orthopedic Institute completed a $3 million expansion of its Main Street Specialty Surgery Center in Orange, Calif., in April. Hoag expanded two of the ASC’s operating rooms and hired additional staff members as part of the year-long project.
3. Nader Nassif, MD, chief of joint replacement at Hoag Orthopedic Institute, spoke to Becker’s about the benefits of joint replacement robots in orthopedics and how improved robotic intelligence will bolster the next generation of robotically assisted systems.
4. Adam Kanter, MD, joined Hoag Specialty Clinic as chief of neurosurgery and associate executive medical director of the Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute. Dr. Kanter previously served as chief of spine surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is also chair of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons section on disorders of the spine and peripheral nerves and president of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
