Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Riley Williams of Hospital for Special Surgery

Riley Joseph Williams, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. His clinical interests focus on sports medicine, including knee, shoulder and elbow surgery.

He is the director of the Institute for Cartilage Repair and the knee group leader of the sports medicine and shoulder service at Hospital for Special Surgery and an associate professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He is the medical director and head team orthopedic surgeon for the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Red Bulls; he is also a team physician for USA Basketball. He holds memberships with American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and Professional Soccer Physicians Society.

 

Dr. Williams earned his medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine in California. He went on to complete residency training at Hospital for Special Surgery, where he also performed a sports medicine and shoulder service fellowship.
