3 workers injured in scaffolding collapse at Sanford Health’s new orthopedic hospital

Three workers were taken to the hospital following a scaffolding collapse at the site of the new Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Orthopedic Hospital, according to a May 25 report from the Argus Leader.

First responders were called to the construction site just after 2 p.m. on May 25. Everyone working on the property is accounted for. 

“Our thoughts are with those who were impacted by this accident and we want to express our gratitude to our local emergency officials for responding quickly and efficiently to the site,” Sanford told the Argus in a statement. 

Details of the workers’ injuries and status are not being revealed at this time, according to the report. 

The 205,000-square-foot hospital is expected to open in the third quarter of 2025.
