1. Better patient positioning reduces the risk of complications
2. Proper positioning enables surgeons to quickly and easily access necessary areas
3. The anterior approach for hip replacement requires specific positioning for successful outcomes
Andrew Wickline, MD, of New Hartford, N.Y.-based Genesee Orthopedics & Plastic Surgery Associates said he began performing anterior hip procedures in 2007 and now uses the Mizuho OSI Hana table to perform 99 percent of hip procedures through the direct anterior approach.
