Gloucester, Va.-based Riverside Walter Reed Hospital and Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg (Va.) were recognized by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for providing high-quality orthopedic care.

Both hospitals were designated Blue Distinction Centers, with Riverside Walter Reed earning an enhanced designation, according to an Oct. 7 system news release.

The Blue Distinction Specialty Care program is a national initiative that identifies healthcare facilities with proven expertise in delivering specialty care. To earn a designation, hospitals must meet rigorous standards for patient safety, clinical outcomes and cost efficiency.

The recognitions highlight Riverside’s commitment to orthopedic care, including comprehensive presurgical education, enhanced recovery pathways and coordinated rehabilitation services that support faster, safer recovery for patients, according to the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
