Dr. Bittner, who practices at Fullerton, Calif.-based Providence St. Jude Medical Center, gave an online presentation to more than 75 Ukrainian doctors. He previously served as an orthopedic trauma surgeon for the Navy and operated on more than 250 people while serving in Afghanistan.
Olaf Libiermais, MD, who studied at New Haven, Conn.-based Yale Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation, traveled from his home in Latvia to Kyiv, Ukraine. He brought medical supplies and instruments and stayed to apply his expertise in treating war wounds and train medical providers.
Anthony de Bari, MD, a Saginaw, Mich.-based orthopedic surgeon, is volunteering at a Ukrainian field hospital in Lviv to treat those affected by the Russian invasion.
