Which U.S. region had most physicians with an income higher than $450k?

The South-Central region of the United States includes the highest percentage of physicians earning more than $450,000 in 2013, according to Physicians Practice’s 2014 Physician Compensation Survey.

The survey includes responses from 1,338 physicians.

 

Here are the percentages of physicians in different regions earning more than $450,000 in 2013, including any cash or cash-equivalent bonuses but not including insurance and other non-cash benefits:

 

•    South-Central — 9.5 percent
•    Northeast — 6.8 percent
•    Southeast — 6.8 percent
•    Plains & Rockies/North-Central — 6.5 percent
•    Mid-Atlantic — 5.7 percent
•    West — 5.2 percent
