West Virginia University installs robotic systems for spine surgery: 3 insights

Morgantown-based West Virginia University Medicine is currently the only providers in the state to acquire the Mazor X robotic surgical guidance system, according to WBOY-TV, a dual NBC and ABC affiliate.

Three insights:

1. By using the Mazor X system, spine surgeons get a comprehensive 3D surgical plan and analytics prior to the surgery.

2. Additionally, intraoperative guidance through precision mechanics and a surgical arm is designed to improve trajectory and position.

3. The Mazor X system also gives surgeons intraoperative verification of the surgical arm and position.
