United Healthcare is the largest commercial healthcare insurance carrier in the United States and has notified several physicians they will no longer be participants after Feb. 1, 2014. The terminations are often “without cause,” according to the report, and patients are notified that their physicians are no longer participating separately.
While reasoning behind the cuts is unclear, some organizations report UHC told them the cuts were based on quality, physician panel sizes and “cost of the physician provider to the insurer,” according to the report.
