Here are three things to know:
1. The gift will support board-certified neurosurgeon Daniel Lu’s, MD, PhD, research. Dr. Lu is an associate neurosurgery professor at David Geffen. He is also the director of the UCLA Neuroplasticity and Repair Laboratory and the UCLA Neuromotor Recovery and Rehabilitation Center.
2. The funds will allow Dr. Lu to test promising SCI treatments in larger patient groups, evaluating whether various spinal stimulation approaches improve patient outcomes.
3. The donation is part of the UCLA Centennial Campaign, which is set to conclude in December 2019 during UCLA’s 100th anniversary year.
