UB Neurosurgery to break ground on $25M, 1-stop facility: 6 insights

University at Buffalo (N.Y.) Neurosurgery will begin construction on a $25 million facility later this May. The one-stop neuroscience center is set to open in summer 2019, according to Buffalo Business First.

Here are six things to know.

1. The 60,000-square-foot facility will be located on a seven-acre parcel on Wehrle Drive in Buffalo.

2. A second phase of the project involves constructing an ambulatory surgery center behind the building.

3. UB Neurosurgery has grown from approximately 90 employees and 10 physicians to 200 employees and almost 20 physicians. This new facility will bring all members of the practice under one roof.

4. The new center will provide chiropractic services, interventional pain management and anesthesiology as well as surgical consultation. Additionally, the neuroscience center will feature an imaging clinic operated by Buffalo-based Dent Neurologic Institute, as well as physical therapy by Buffalo Rehab Group and Kenmore, N.Y.-based Bennett Rehabilitation Institute.

5. UB Neurosurgery physicians will continue to provide inpatient care at the Gates Vascular Institute in Buffalo, but outpatient services will shift to the new site, including spine procedures and injections.

6. UB Neurosurgery currently serves patients at nine area locations.
