U of Virginia Health System to build $160M musculoskeletal center: 5 details

Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System began construction on its new musculoskeletal center, according to WVIR TV.

Here are five things to know:

1. UVA Health System will consolidate multiple outpatient orthopedic clinics to provide orthopedic care in the single location.

2. Some of the consolidations include clinics at University of Virginia Foundation’s Fontaine Research Park and UVA Prosthetics and Orthotics clinic, both located in Charlottesville.

3. Some joint replacement and sports medicine surgeries done at the UVA’s main medical center campus will also move to the new location.

4. The 195,000-square-foot facility will feature 95 exam rooms and six outpatient operating rooms.

5. The new center is expected to cost $160 million and open in February 2022.
