Twin Cities Orthopedics Initiates New Program for Improved Patient Outcomes

Twin Cities Orthopedics, based in Minneapolis, has launched a new surgical and recovery program called Excel, designed to improve patient outcomes and lower healthcare costs.

Under the Excel program, each patient has a dedicated nurse practitioner to guide from pre-surgery through post-surgery and into a special recovery retreat. Patients are supervised by a complete medical team and undergo rehabilitation within hours of surgery. In addition, patients are only billed once for the full continuum of care.

“This is one of the most innovative advancements we’ve seen in raising quality, yet reducing costs. There’s nothing like it,” said Owen R. O’Neill, MD, Excel Medical Director and Twin Cities Orthopedics surgeon. “We’ve seen surgical centers across the country outsourcing recovery to hotels. But a hotel room can feel almost as impersonal as a hospital and certainly doesn’t meet the sanitary qualifications nor the on-site medical rehabilitation the Excel program offers. The Excel program has exceeded all expectations.”
