Here are five things to know:

1. The repeal is unpopular among Democrats and replacement with the tax credits is controversial among Republicans; the Republican Study Committee and House Freedom Caucus have balked at the tax credit plan to help people pay for healthcare, considering it “a new entitlement program.”

2. President Trump emphasized in his speech that the tax credits and expanded health savings accounts should help Americans purchase healthcare, but the plans “must be the plan they want.”

3. President Trump didn’t specify whether the tax credit would be advanceable and refundable.

4. Beyond discussing access to healthcare, President Trump also supported protecting people with pre-existing conditions and easing the transition for people who are currently enrolled in insurance plans on the exchanges.

5. President Trump did not discuss Medicaid during his speech.
