Top 5 specialties in which residents earn the most

Here are the top five specialties in which medical residents earn the highest pay, according to Medscape’s Residents Salary & Debt Report 2015.

•    Critical care — $62,000
•    Oncology, pulmonary medicine — $61,000
•    Cardiology — $60,000
•    Gastroenterology — $59,000
•    Plastic surgery — $58,000

 

The survey polled 1,745 medical residents across 24 specialty residency programs.
