More than 1,200 residents across 25 specialties took part in the online survey between June 20 and July 7. All participants were enrolled in a U.S. medical resident program.
The top 10 specialties in which residents earn the highest salaries, according to the report, are:
• Critical care — $65,000
• Radiology — $63,000
• Pulmonary medicine — $60,000
• Gastroenterology — $60,000
• Oncology — $59,000
• Plastic surgery — $58,000
• Ophthalmology — $58,000
• Cardiology — $58,000
• Orthopedics — $57,000
• Nephrology — $57,000
