What you should know:
1. Phoenix-based The Core Institute has entered into agreements with several Michigan-based physician groups in the last six years. This marks the group’s first agreement with an outpatient surgery center in the state.
2. The ASC’s physician owners sold a 33 percent ownership share to Core. The ASC is a joint venture between local physicians and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Surgery Partners.
3. Lakes Ambulatory Surgery Center Medical Director Kevin Neff, MD, said the group will leverage Core’s resources to develop a total joint program.
4. The ASC will partner with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for the program.
