The system, which will launch this October, will pay the physician group for the total episode of care for patients undergoing total hip and knee replacements and will include payment for care delivered during the first 90 days post-surgery.
When the program begins, BlueCross will share data on variations in care, overall cost and efficiencies with surgeons, according to the report.
