Tennessee hospital commended for spine surgery, joint replacements

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association recognized The University of Tennessee Medical Center as a Blue Distinction Center+ for spine surgery and joint replacements, according to a June 22 report by WATE.

Designated facilities demonstrate quality care, treatment expertise and better overall patient results, according to BCBS Association.

To be considered, healthcare facilities must provide inpatient, postoperative and outpatient follow-up care and patient education.

The Knoxville, Tenn.-based hospital also achieved the distinction for its cardiac, bariatrics and maternity lines.
