The study’s findings include:
• For “problem-focused” visits lasting an average of 15 minutes physicians received reimbursement ranging from $47 or less to $86 or more.
• For longer, more complex office visits physician received reimbursement ranging from $103 or less to $257 or more.
The researchers suggested market variation and the quality of the physician services provided may account for some variation, but they were unable to identify specific reasons for the gaps in reimbursement.
